Nestled within a private rainforest reserve just outside Panama City, the Sloth Sanctuary is a peaceful haven dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of Panama’s native wildlife. Managed by the Pan-American Conservation Association, it cares for two- and three-toed sloths, toucans, monkeys, coatis, and other rainforest species.

Knowledgeable bilingual guides lead you along shaded jungle trails through natural habitats, sharing the inspiring stories behind the sanctuary’s conservation work. You’ll learn about sloth behavior, their role in the rainforest ecosystem, and the challenges wildlife faces in a rapidly changing environment — with frequent opportunities to observe these gentle creatures up close.

The sanctuary also features a butterfly habitat with the full life cycle of native species, a vibrant frog exhibit with colorful amphibians, and a collection of native orchids showcasing Panama’s extraordinary flora.
